CEDS is hosting the Trade Mapping and Market Analysis Workshop on 25-26 November 2013. The training is a collaboration between CEDS, Asian Development Bank, and International Trade Center (ITC), a subsidiary organization of WTO and UNCTAD. The training which will be held in CEDS training center in Bandung, Indonesia, will be attended by 19 participants from nine Asian countries.
The training will utilize an analytical tool, Trade Map, an interactive online database on international trade statistics that can present indicators on export performance, international demand, alternative markets and the role of competitors from both the product and country perspective. Trade Map covers the annual trade flows (mirror and direct) of over 220 countries and territories and 5,300 products defined at the 2, 4 or 6-digit level of the Harmonized System with different trade indicators (indices, values, quantities, trends, market share and unit values) and times series since 2001 displayed in graphic, map or tabular format. Trade values can be selected from 16 different currencies. Monthly and quarterly trade statistics for over 80 countries are updated on a constant basis. ITC also adds company data from more than 60 countries to Trade Map, improving the ability of companies to identify trading partners across the world.
It is hoped that this training will not only enhance participant's skills in doing trade analysis, but also enhance networking and partnership among researchers across Asian countries.
